Seattle to Europe; Top 5 Non-Stop Flights
Is it possible to have a quick 7-9 day trip in Europe from Seattle? Short answer = Yes!
Being on the West Coast of the US, going to Europe can seem pretty far away. But it doesn’t have to be that way. While the East coast (i.e. New York and Boston) are more common launching points for European flights, here on the West coast we are fortunate to have strong airline carriers and availability of polar routes that lend some terrific deals with non-stop Seattle to Europe flights.
Here are the 5 Europe destinations that you can fly to non-stop from SeaTac airport. Why fly non-stop? It should save you both time and money. And all of these cities are great hubs to venture out within Europe. Just buy a RT flight to one of these cities, then use trains or small airlines to travel easily to neighboring countries.
LONDON: United Kingdom Flight time: @9.5 hours gate to gate, Seattle to London Airlines: Norwegian Air , Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, Delta
Why London? It is very easy for Americans to vacation in the UK, whether you stay in England or venture into Scotland or Northern Ireland. English is the common language so you will be able to read all of the signs and the only language barrier is your "funny little accent". With Brexit uncertainty, the US dollar exchange rate is very good right now against the British Pound so it’s a good value time to visit. London is also a huge hub to other areas in Europe.
Bummer: If you need to rent a car, they drive on the left side of the road so that can add some stress (particularly since most rentals are manual, so you will be shifting left-handed too).
AMSTERDAM: The Netherlands
Flight Time: @10 hours gate to gate, Seattle to Amsterdam Airlines:
Why Amsterdam? Amsterdam is REALLY fun and it is a compact city that is easy to navigate, with loads of culture packed in. The Netherlands is a melting pot of other cultures… they are very open to everyone and everything. In Amsterdam, you are likely to meet people from all over Europe and with so many languages, English becomes the common language. You will find English is everywhere, so language difficulties are few and more like funny stories than real inconveniences. The dollar is a strong value to the Euro now, plus Amsterdam is an excellent transportation hub to other countries.
Bummer:
Can’t think of any. If you get a chance to go to Amsterdam, do it.
PARIS: France
Flight Time: @10 hours gate to gate, Seattle to Paris
Airlines: Delta Air France Why Paris? Because it’s Paris! Why not go see this place? It’s beautiful, historic and absolutely nothing like Seattle, plus the dollar is a strong value to the Euro now. Paris is a famous city worldwide, as well it should be. From iconic sites such as the Eiffel Tower, to art, chateaus, museums, shopping and food.... ooh la la! Paris is also well-connected to all of Europe so it's a great place to add on European vacations that includes other countries as well.
Bummer: Yes, you can get by on English but many of the French are not thrilled about that aspect. We recommend learning at least the basics of hello, please and thank you and you might want to try one of those translation apps on your mobile phone?
FRANKFURT: Germany
Flight Time: @10 hours gate to gate, Seattle to Frankfurt
Airlines: Lufthansa, United Why Frankfurt? Think of Frankfurt as your entry doorway into Germany. While this city may not in itself be a hot tourist destination, it is a good starting point to reach anywhere in Germany or other cities in Europe.
REYKJAVIK: Iceland
Flight Time: @7.5 hours gate to gate
Airlines: Icelandic Air
Why Iceland? This is a tough one for me to answer because Iceland is a place I’ve been to on a stopover but and don’t feel the need to return to. It’s interesting – lava beaches, rugged landscapes etc. and if you believe all of the commercials on Iceland Air there are spectacular nature moments to be seen and experienced.
Bummer: Iceland is VERY expensive. Pretty much most of the things Iceland shows on tourism sites can also be discovered and experienced in Alaska, for about 1/5th of the cost. Iceland makes Alaska look like an attractive bargain adventure destination for people from Seattle.
