Monty Python and the Holy Grail: The French Castle Elements and walls of Castle Doune apparently were used as the backdrop for multiple castle scenes in this hilarious move from 1975. Castle Doune’s most notable appearance is near the end of the movie as the castle occupied by the French who taunt and insult King Arthur…again, and again.. and again.
Outlander: Castle Leoch Castle Leoch anyone? Yes, Season 1 of Outlander had Claire delivered to Castle Leoch and her first meetings with the Clan MacKenzie and Scottlish life waaaay back when. Today, Castle Doune has wonderfully cared for green grounds, but for the filming of Outlander, it was reportedly too pretty and the grounds were covered deeply in dirt as a more fitting scene for the livestock and people paths. The scene below is a reportedly deleted scene from, and I'm sharing here becuase, well frankly it's one of the shorter videos clips that I could find showing Castle Doune.
Game of Thrones: Winterfell
Doune Castle was the setting of Winterfell for Season 1 Game of Thrones and may be most visibly remembered as where young Bran was pushed from a castle window after climbing a castle wall and peeking into a window and seeing something that well, umm, he was not supposed to see.
